The World Record

Guinness World Records

The 1811 Château d'Yquem was sold at a record-breaking £75,000 ($117,000).

This exceeds the previous highest price for a white wine, a 1787 Château d'Yquem (also sold by The Antique Wine Company, for $56,588).

To qualify as a world record for the Most Valuable White Wine, Guinness provides strict guidelines that must be adhered to.

The Antique Wine Company considers provenance to be the most critical factor in defining the quality and value of fine wine.

There are numerous records of Chateau d'Yquem 1811 appearing in the estate archives and on European wine merchant and restaurant listings throughout the past two centuries.

This particular bottle was also inspected by the cellar master at Chateau d'Yquem and The Antique Wine Company's authentication team in 2007.
