Tuscan Masterclass

Next up at AWC Wine Academy, Italian fine wine specialist and Master of Wine, Michael Palij will conduct the ultimate Tuscan masterclass on Wednesday, February 22nd from 7 to 9 pm. The leading expert on wines from this region, Michael will lead a blind tasting that will include the likes of Sassicaia, Ornellaia, Tignanello, Solaia, Galatrona and Biondi Santi.

Due to the format, we cannot reveal all of the wines. However, along with a selection of the above, you will taste the following:

1995 Castello di Ama, Vigneto Bellavista
1999 Casse Base Soldera, Brunello di Montalcino
2005 Fattoria Le Pupille, Poggio Valente Riserva
2004 Marchesi Antinori, Tignanello
2005 Fattoria La Fiorita, Brunello di Montalcino

Additionally, there will be a well–known Bordeaux Grand Cru hidden amongst the glasses to see who can spot it versus the oft–compared Super Tuscans.

Wednesday, February 22nd from 7 to 9 pm

Tuscan Masterclass
If Piedmont is Italy's Burgundy, then Tuscany is unquestionably its Bordeaux. This tasting will offer the opportunity to sample and explore some of the region's brightest stars under the tutelage of a Master of Wine. Judge for yourself how the wines of Bolgheri and Brunello measure up against top–rated Bordeaux and discover why the wine world has become so fixated on this area. Throughout this delightful tasting, Michael Palij, MW will discourse on the history, geography and politics of Tuscany and reveal how they have influenced the region's wines.
