VERIFY THE AUTHENTICITY OF YOUR WINE

Since the value of fine wine has soared in recent years, and the market for it has widened to all corners of the globe, inevitably like art and other precious items, wine has not been without incidents of counterfeiting.

The Antique Wine Company is one of the foremost specialist wine merchants in the world, and probably trades more old and valuable vintages than any other merchant.

During the past two years, through an exclusive contract with the French CNRS (Centre Nationale Research Studies) and CENBG (Centre d'études nucléaires Bordeaux Gradignan) The Antique Wine Company has developed a series of tests (PIXE and Caesium 137 analyis). These tests verify the age of both glass bottles and the wine contained therin, with reasonable accuracy and without the need to open or damage the wine in any way.

The process has been used by several Bordeaux Classified Growth Chateaux and Burgundy Domaines, as well as auction houses and independent wine experts. Clients of The Antique Wine Company have special access to this facility.

  After carrying out the authentication process, we will provide you with a paper certificate, and a 'Prooftag' seal will be applied to the top of the bottle. 'Prooftag', a unique seal which will destruct if tampered with, also provides traceability enabling a future purchaser to check the date of authentication, and the current ownership of the bottle. www.prooftag.net
